Michelle Obama ripped through Donald Trump at the opening of the Democratic National Convention, saying he is the “wrong president for our country” who is “clearly in over his head”.
The four-day convention was initially scheduled to be held in Wisconsin but it began virtually on Monday amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Kamala Harris, who is 55 years old is nominated as a vice presidential candidate by the DNC as the first-ever Black as well as the first-ever American of Indian and African descent.
Michelle Obama said on the opening night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, that Donald Trump is the wrong president for US. He had more than enough time to prove himself but he failed to do so, but he is clearly in over his head. She also added US is a nation that is deeply divided.
She cautioned that if Americans think things cannot possibly get worse, but it can become worse if citizens of America don’t make a change in this election. To get rid of this chaotic situation, citizens have got to vote for Joe Biden.
Former US vice president and presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Biden, 77, will challenge 74-year-old Republican incumbent President Trump in the November 3 election.
Michelle said that the job of the president is hard and it requires proper judgmental skills a devotion to facts and history, a moral compass, and an ability to listen to country’s people and make them belief that each of the 330,000,000 lives in this country has meaning and worth. President’s word can start wars; they can summon our better angels or awaken our worst instincts.
She believes that if her husband, former president Barack Obama, and vice president Biden would hold their positions condition will be different.
More than 150,000 people have died due to COVID-19, economic crisis prevailed. It has left millions of people jobless. Too many have lost their health care; too many are struggling to take care of basic necessities like food and rent; all of this just because the President didn’t take right decision at right time.
Referring to the recent s killings of people from the African-American community, she said even as George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and a never-ending list of innocent people of color continue to be murdered, the simple fact that a Black life matters is still met with disrespect from the nation’s highest office.
Obama said while Biden is not perfect, but he will learn eventually. Citizens of America will find peace. Because Joe Biden has served this nation his entire life, he knows what is right for the nation and all the people of nation are equal for him.
She also criticized US Postal Service, she said right now those who know they cannot win fair and square at the ballot box are doing everything they can to stop public from voting, they will send people to intimidate the voters at the same time they lie about the security of ballots.
