20 years of Priyanka Chopra in Bollywood: It would be right to call this lady “A woman who never turned back”. Yes, Priyanka Chopra just kept rising in everything she stepped into. A Bihari girl with a versatile personality, she is both smart and good looking which is an extraordinary combination.
Right from her early life, being the daughter of an Army Doctor, she grew up rationally in every part of the country. Her interest in modeling saw her win the Miss World title in 2000 and made our nation proud. Her success story took off from that year and now millennial look up to her as an inspiration.
After winning the Miss World pageant she entered the silver screen with the movie “The Hero- Love Story of A Spy” in the year 2003. However, she received appreciation for the dominant-negative protagonist she played in the movie “Aitraaz” which was released in the year 2004. After this, it was a rather bumpy ride for her in Bollywood with a series of hits and flops.
After 2006, which saw “Don” and “Krish”, there was no looking back for her. She also faced many controversies in relation to one of her co-stars in the movie Don, which she obviously slammed. But it does make one wonder if there was ever smoke without fire.
Her role as the lead in “Fashion” in the year 2008 was vastly appreciated for the broken yet strong character that she rendered so well that she ended up bagging the ‘National Film Award for Best Actress’. She made a mark for herself in Bollywood as a versatile actress despite any filmy background which is an achievement in itself.
“Saath Khoon Maaf” was one of her under-appreciated films in which she had to play several looks. PC did justice to all the shades of the protagonist and for which she won the ‘Critics Award for Best Actress’.
Another such forgotten yet brilliant film, according to me, is “What’s Your Rashi”?. In this movie, she plays the 9 different characters of 9 Zodiac Signs, with their respective characteristic traits, which is almost in the same league as Kamal Hasan’s ” Dashavatharam” flicks. Yet, PC polished it off like a boss.
She kept riding the wave of success with one movie after another like, “Kaminey”, “Barfi”, “Mary Kom” to name a few.
Her controversial relationships issue breaks up never effected her much as she is a person made of concrete standing strong. Her love for music led her to the pop industry and that’s the start of her Hollywood career. “In My City” which features the rapper “Will.i.am”.
This was the trigger to her Hollywood entry as this artist was famous at that point of time. Later, she started a production company called ‘purple pebbles’, she didn’t stop there went ahead encouraging talent through her production company, and she also became the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF hold on she didn’t stop yet gave voice for a couple of Hollywood flicks making her multi-talented.
“Quantico” series has given a boost to her career in Hollywood, she has won twice ‘People’s choice award’ and once ‘Favorite Dramatic TV actress’ and ‘Favorite Actress in New TV series’, made her the 1st South Asian Actress to win ‘People’s choice award’ which is actually history.
Not just there she got recognized for her contribution to the film industry in her maternal county as well (which is India). She received the fourth highest civilian award, by the Government of India which is “Padma Shri”. And she has also got her name in the list of ” World’s 100 most powerful women” by Forbes and “100 most influential people in the world” by Time.
“Met at Met” confused me; let me explain her successful TV career. She has become the ardent actress for many and hence got a chance to attend ‘Met gala’ in the year 2017. If you haven’t recollected then let me remind you of her most famous ‘MEME Dress’ Ralph Lauren trench coat dress. People have changed her dress into Egypt pyramids, a cup of cold tea and many more… This is when Nick Jones enters the picture and of course her life. And this comes to show why I said what I said at the beginning.
Ever since then they started dating and didn’t take much time for them to fall head over heels for each other. They were everywhere possible and became the most talked or loved couple. Right from proposing with the biggest rock, the house at Beverly Hills till the wedding which happened in India’s famous Jodhpur fort. This beauty with brains is still in the news for her witty answers, her lifestyle and her compassion towards her husband.
