Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme: Centre allots only 5 seats to Telangana

The first phase of this scheme benefited 112 full time and part-time candidates from Telangana. Surprisingly, in the second phase, the centre allotted just 5 seats to Telangana in the full-time category.

The seat allocation under phase II of the Visvesvaraya PhD scheme erupted discrimination against Telangana by BJP led central government.

The Visvesvaraya PhD scheme was initiated by the Centre with the goal of increasing the No. of PhD’s in the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/ITES sectors. The scheme also includes Al and Emerging Technologies.

The first phase of this scheme benefited 112 full time and part-time candidates from Telangana. Surprisingly, in the second phase, the centre allotted just 5 seats to Telangana in the full-time category, while BJP ruled states allocated more seats than Telangana.

Karnataka is allocated with a highest 19 seats, followed by Maharastara with 17, 11 to UP and 7 to Gujarat.

According to Telangana today, TRS MP, Parthasaradhi Reddy raised in Rajya Sabha about the efforts of union government to train youngsters in Artificial Intelligence.

In reply to the union minister of state for electronics and information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the government sees AI as a key driver of the digital economy’s development, investments and job creation.e

Furthermore he briefed about government initiatives on AI ecosystem. He also said the main goal of Visvesvaraya PhD scheme is to increase no. of PhD’s in ESDM.
