Eleven medical students have been reportedly suspended for making derogatory reels on nurses and sharing them on social media. The incident had taken place on the premises of the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Hubballi.
According to IANS news, the Principal of KIMS Dr Eshwar Hosamni, has issued an order of suspending the accused students for a week. The reels portrayed nurses in a humiliating and negative manner. This reel was made without their nurse’s permission and included a popular Kannada movie song with lyrics. The meaning of the song is that girls should not be believed and nurses could not be trusted. Students share the reel on social media.
After the video went viral, the nurses in KIMS demanded action against the accused students. Then KIMS institute’s principal took action and suspended them. Later the students released another video apologizing to the nurses and clarifying that it was just for fun.
The incident has outrage among nurses across the state, with protests and demands for action against the medical students.
