Vinesh Phogat questions the silence of Modi gov’t over sexual abuse probe

Vinesh Phogat, a two-time Olympian questions the silence of the Modi led BJP government over sexual abuse probe.

There was a time when the Phogat sisters would never stop praising PM Modi and his government. They crossed all limits to praise the PM. However, their praises are now turned into claims and protests. Moreover, the Phogat sisters are now questioning the PM and his government. Furthermore, she said that she has been hurt by their biased silence.

Vinesh Phogat, a two-time Olympian has been protesting against the accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually abusing her. In addition to that, her other Indian wrestlers, including Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have been protesting for months. All of them are seeking the arrest of Singh – a member of parliament from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

It is alleged that Phogat is one of seven female athletes to have lodged a police case against Singh accusing him of sexually harassing them. According to the Reuters news agency on Saturday, the 28-year-old wrestler criticised the pace and the style of a police inquiry into sexual harassment accusations against Singh.

According to the sources, it is said that people feel that this protest would die away soon as the wrestlers are just trying to draw the attention of the government for their selfish motives. However, some oppose this opinion. They feel that the government is just trying to cover up the case as the President of the Federation is a BJP MP.
