The Centre told the Delhi High Court on Tuesday that Twitter is now in compliance with the new IT rules, 2021.
A new full-time chief Compliance Officer-cum-Resident Grievance Officer and a Nodal Contact Officer are appointed by the micro -blogging site.
The Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma told the court, “It would be better if our affidavit come on record. The chief compliance officer, the nodal contact person and the resident grievance officer have been appointed and they (Twitter) are today in compliance with the law”
According to the new rules, apparently, all social media platforms need to set up a grievance redressal and compliance mechanism. This includes appointing a resident grievance officer, chief compliance officer and a nodal contact person.

Twitter informed the court that Vinay Prakash is appointed as the Chief compliance Officer and the Resident Grievance Officer. The micro blogging platform further added that he is fully capable of performing the functions of the two posts. He will function according to Rule 4(1)(a) and (c).
Twitter also informed the court that Shahin Komath is appointed as the Nodal Contact Officer and joined his duties from August 4. They further added that he is fully capable of performing the functions of the post. He will function according to Rule 4(1)(b).
