X (formerly Twitter) has announced a new subscription model called ‘Not A Bot‘ that will charge users $1 annually. The fee will apply to basic features such as posting content and liking posts on the web version of the platform. Twitter said on Tuesday that it will test a new subscription model. For this it will charge a $1 (roughly Rs. 83) annual fee for basic features.

This new test was developed to bolster our already successful efforts to reduce spam, manipulation of our platform, and bot activity. In addition to this, balancing platform accessibility with the small fee amount. It is not a profit driver. So far, subscription options have proven to be the main solution that works at scale.

Two new tiers of X Premium subscriptions launching soon. One is lower cost with all features, but no reduction in ads, and the other is more expensive, but has no ads. Twitter only had a single subscription model so far under the X Pro monicker. The X Pro is priced at Rs 650 for a month when purchased via the website.
