Telangana Government ‘Worker to Owner’ scheme reaches final stage

The Telangana government has launched several schemes besides announcing subsidies. Telangana state to provide year-round employment to the weavers. Continuing with welfare schemes. The government has come up with an innovative scheme to make workers as owners of weaving units. The name of the scheme is ‘Worker to Owner’ 

Consequently, a weaving park is being developed in Peddur in the outskirts of Sircilla town.

According to Telangana Today, The park is being developed over 88 acres of land at a cost of Rs.375 crore. Initially, it was aimed at developing work-sheds to accommodate 1,104 weavers in the first phase. The project was taken up to develop 46 worksheds in which 4,416 powerlooms were installed.

The work shed has reached the final stage. Weavers will be handed over powerlooms under group sheds. Each employee will be provided 800 square feet space including store room in the park. Four semi-automatic powerlooms and one winding machine will be provided to each worker. The park will have 60 warping machines.

When the project was started, the cost of each unit was fixed at Rs.8 lakh. However, this increased to Rs.5 lakh. The government has decided to provide units at 50 per cent subsidy. And banks will provide 40 per cent amount under loan. The remaining 10 per cent is beneficiary contribution.

Regional Deputy Director, Handlooms and Textiles, V Ashok Rao informed that the construction of the workshed has already been completed. The park will be ready by April 15 after completing all the pending works.
