T20 World cup scheduled to held in India is being shifted to UAE. According to sources, this change has come up due to the health concerns posed by COVID-19. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed the news.
This confirmation has ended all the speculations regarding the mega event. Apparently, this T20 matches will be held in October-November. Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary said that the dates will be decided by ICC soon.
“We have officially intimated the ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the UAE. The details are being chalked out,” Ganguly said. “The decision was taken keeping health safety concerns of all stakeholders in mind”
The speculations over the fate of the high-profile event ended as the event is shifted to UAE but hosted by BCCI. This decision was not an easy one but BCCi had to take it due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in India.
The BCCI consulted International Cricket Council (ICC) before shifting the venue to UAE. ICC gave BCCI a four-week window to decide whether it can host the vent in India or not.
However, UAE is set to host the tournament for the first time in history. The new schedule of the tournament is not yet finalized.
