Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti slammed the Centre over its decision on the land law in the union territory, on Thursday. The PDP leader said, “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil men hai, dekhna hai zor kitna bazu-e-qatil mein hai.”
After the nullification of Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution, the Centre has been amending several laws for over a year. It has paved the way for people from outside Jammu and Kashmir to buy land in the union territory by ommitting the phrase “permanent resident of the state” from Section 17 of the Jammu and Kashmir Development Act that deals with disposal of the land in the union territory. The notification was given by the Centre on October 27.
Mufti said, the people in Jammu and Srinagar tried to take out protest against land laws but they were detained, even she tried to go out but was also stopped. Nobody is allowed to talk there. She alleged that the Centre want to take the resources of J&K. She said that the centre is communal. Addressing the media, she added, that the Centre isn’t able to give employment to poor and instead are giving false assurances to people of the country that they can buy land here. She also alleged that Centre has taken lands from farmers and has given it to corporated across the country and they are planning to do the same to the lands in J&K and give it to corporates. She said that they would not sit silently on everything.
