Rahul Gandhi visits Chanchalguda Central Jail to meet NSUI leaders

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visits Chanchalguda Central Jail in Hyderabad on Saturday. He called on NSUI leaders who were arrested last week for staging a protest at Osmania University.

Rahul Gandhi, on the second day of his schedule to Telangana, visits Chanchalguda Central Jail. He called on 18 leaders of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). NSUI is the student wing of Congress party.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted before reaching the jail. The soul of the Congress party are its dedicated workers, who are waging a selfless battle against injustice. I will always stand by them. Heading to Chanchalguda jail to meet the 18 NSUI student leaders who have been illegally arrested by TRS govt for protesting peacefully.”

Eventually, Rahul Gandhi, interacted with NSUI Telangana state president Balmoori Venkat and others. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader accompanied him. He spoke to the students and enquired the problems faced by students and youth. Moreover, Rahul Gandhi posed for photographs with NSUI leaders.

Earlier, on May 1, 18 NUSI leaders arrested during the protest at Osmania University. They were protesting for denial of permission for Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the university.
