A passenger in the Neelanchal Express train (Delhi-Kanpur) dies due to an iron rod piercing his neck in the Prayagragraj division of the North Central Railway.

As per reports, the man identified as Hrishekesh Dubey was sitting by the window in the general compartment of Neelanchal Express when the 5 feet long and 1.5-inch thick iron rod tore through the glass window of the train and pierced his neck leading to his death on the spot.

Following the incident, the train was stopped at Aligarh Junction railway station in Uttar Pradesh, and the body was handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP), according to the information of the Indian Railways.

“One person died in general coach by an external object (iron rod) which damaged the window. The train was stopped at the Aligarh junction at 09.23 hours,” the railway spokesperson added.

Sources stated that some work was underway on the railway tracks when the incident happened. However, no confirmation in this regard has been received from the Railways yet, reported PTI.

A passenger sitting on a corner seat in Nilanchal Express going from Delhi to Kanpur died.

An iron rod being used for railway track work entered the train by damaging the window and penetrating into his neck.

Stopping the train at Aligarh Junction, investigation started by handing over the dead body to GRP.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, added the Railways.
