A team of doctors at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) have successfully completed 4 kidney transplant surgeries in 24 hours. The doctors have given them a new phase of life to the people who were in the final-stage of life due to organ failure.

The NIMS department of urology & renal transplantation performed one live-related kidney transplant and three donor kidney transplants in 24 hours.

Apparently, the live related kidney was transplanted from husband to wife and another three kidneys were extracted from brain-dead people.

Khallel Ahmed of Mahbubnagar, Swarthika of Karimnagar, and Santhosh of Hyderabad received new kidneys. They have been on kidney dialysis since five years. Meanwhile, K Venkata Laxmi who had been on kidney dialysis for the last two years, had a live transplant.

Telangana minister Harish Rao appreciated the doctors at NIMS for their services to the poor and needy patients. On the other hand, these surgeries would cost Rs 10 to 15 lakhs per transplant in private hospitals. However, it is done free of cost at NIMS hospital under Aarogyasree scheme provided by the Government of Telangana, Rao said.

Harish Rao Tweet:

In a rare feat at NIMS Hospital, doctors performed 4 Kidney Transplants in 24 hours providing a new lease of life to 4 patients suffering from end stage kidney failure. Congratulations to the doctors at NIMS for their services poor and needy patients.

These surgeries which would cost Rs 10 to 15 lakhs per transplant in private hospitals were done free of cost at NIMS hospital under Aarogyasree scheme provided by govt of Telangana #CMKCR
