In a shocking case, a man killed his 14-month-old baby in Raichur district, Karnataka. Police officials said, that the accused felt that the child would restrict his chances of remarriage.
The man identified as Mahantesh, is a 32-year-old man. The victim was identified as Abhinava, son of Mahantesh and his first wife.
The incident came to light when a missing case was registered. Police started searching but there was no result. Later, police suspected and grilled Mahantesh. The accused confessed to the police that he committed the crime.
The accused had maintained that his wife had an affair and he wanted to go for a second marriage. He thought that the child from his first wife would be a hurdle to him. He killed the child and kept the dead body beneath small boulders.
While interrogating by police first he said that he had burnt the body. Later after three days, he showed the place where he kept the child’s body. The police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Mudagal police are investigating the case.
