The Indira Park-VST steel flyover built by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is around 13,000 tons of steel. With a budget of Rs.450 crore, the flyover is 2.62 km long. It’s been built for over four major junctions that will go a long way in easing traffic on the stretch.
According to GHMC officials, the flyover is a four-lane bi-directional elevated corridor being built under the government’s flagship Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP). This is the fifth steel bridge in the city after Indira Park – VST Junction, Malakpet, and two of those at Punjagutta.
After the Indira Park-VST steel flyover is inaugurated, traffic congestion at three busy junctions at VST Junction, Indira Park X-road, and RTC X-roads will be reduced. Currently, load testing of the flyover is in progress. And the flyover will be opened to the public within 10 days of time.
Once this flyover is ready, this will be the 20th flyover completed in Hyderabad under SRDP. Installation of signage, LED lights, safety markings, and crash barriers on the flyover is complete. The maximum speed on the flyover will be 40kmph.
