E-bike showroom fire: 8 dead and 12 injured as fire broke out in Secunderabad

The fire which broke out spread to a hotel on the upper floors of the multi-storeyed building.

Eight died and several others were injured, when a fire broke out in an e-bike showroom in Secunderabad last night. The fire which broke out spread to a hotel on the upper floors of the multi-storeyed building.

According to the officials, the initial reports say that the fire broke out at the e-bike showroom on the ground floor of the building. However, it soon spread upwards to Hotel Ruby pride. There were 25 guests in the hotel at that time.

CV Anand said “It appears there are 23 rooms in all the four floors in the hotel. The smoke traversed through the staircase from the bottom up to the top floor. Some people who were sleeping in the first and second floors came to the corridor through the thick smoke and died due to asphyxiation.”

The fire department rescued several people. Crane ladders were also used to rescue people. However, the locals also extended their help to rescue the inmates of the hotel.

Furthermore, it is disheartening to see some people trying to jump out from the hotel windows in a bid to escape the fire.

Apparently, the 8 people died of asphyxiation caused by the smoke.
