In Mahant Narendra Giri in his suicide note mentioned his disciple, Anand Giri as the cause for his death. On the other hand, allegations are that Anand Giri provoked Mahanta Narendra Giri to commit suicide.
However, it is alleged that there was a dispute regarding land between the guru and his disciple. According to few reports it is alleged that Mahant Narendra Giri wanted to open a petrol pump but changed his mind later.
After the death of Mahant Narendra Giri under suspicious circumstances, his disciple, Anand Giri’s name hit the headlines. Thereafter, he is being questioned by the UP Police.
Anand Giri is the main disciple of Mahanta Narendra Giri, the Chief of Akhil Bharatiya Math. Being the first disciple, Anand Giri, got the title of Swamy.
Two controversies of Anand Giri
There are two controversies regarding the life of Anand Giri. Firstly, he was expelled from the Niranjan Akhara due to a dispute with his guru, Mahanta Narendra Giri.
Presently, Anand Giri, started the construction of his Ashram Ganga Vikram Sena at Gajiwala in Shyampuri, Kangri in Hardiwar.
President, International Bharat Sadhu Yuva Samaj
Currently, Anand Giri, is the President of International Bharat Sadhu Yuva Samaj. He lives with his companions and disciples here. He pronounced himself to be a sadhu who moves around.
Anand Giri claims that he never took a single penny from the revenue of the temple. He said that all his expenses were borne from the money he got from his story reading and donors. He also said that he always served ‘Bajrangbali’ and ‘Shiva’.
Background of Anand Giri
Mahant Ram Ratan Giri, Secretary of Niranjani Akhara said that Anand Giri hails from the Khandelwal family of Bhilwara district. He took hermitage in the year 2000, at the age of 15. Mahant Narendra Giri was the head then. He was a favorite disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri.
Hence. Anand Giri accompanied his guru and got educated under the guidance of his guru and later settled in Bhagambari Mutt.
Australian Tour
Anand Giri passed his +2 and learnt English from here and there. He said that he need to learn English as he is the President of the International Bharat Yuva Sadhu Samaj. Gradually, he learnt English fluently. He went to different countries for story reading.
Once, during his Australian tour, allegations of misbehaving with a girl hit the headlines, for which he was arrested too.
The Land dispute
Anand Giri was given full rights and was known to be the heir of the Bhagambari Mutt. The power of attorney and the will was written on Anand Giri’s name.
The dispute started after the Khumb Mela regarding a land which they owned. The land was on the name of Anand Giri. Mahant Narendra Giri wanted to start a petrol pump on that land. However, according to the rules, the lease of 30 years should be on the owner’s name.
Subsequently, Mahant Narendra Giri agreed to it but later on changed his mind. He said that being a sadhu, it is better to use the land for other purposes like Gau shala or different religious programs than giving it to a petrol pump.
The Real trouble
Consequently, Anand Giri was very angry and said that he does not agree to it. In a fit of rage he shouted on his guru, ‘You want to misuse the land’. This increased the gap between the Guru and the disciple.
Thereafter, he apologised to his guru. But, Mahant Narendra Giri expelled him from the Akhara and told him not to enter the Bhagambari Mutt again except on Guru Poornima.
The breach was so bad that Anand Giri was not only expelled from the Mutt but also from all the rights he was given earlier.
