They submitted a memorandum to him requesting him to lift the ban on Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in AP. Moreover, they urged him to direct the authorities to take necessary actions regarding the celebrations.
BJP leaders including former BJP Andhra Pradesh President Kanna Laxminarayana met the Governor of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
BJP leaders wanted to mount pressure on the government hence, BJP workers stormed into Collectorates and other revenue offices. They were demanding permission setting up of pandals for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. For which, they were arrested.
Tension grew when BJP and its allies staged dharmas in different places. Protests were held in Vishakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Kadapa, Kurnool, Vijayawada and Anantapur.
Several leaders were taken into custody and later released on bail. These leaders include, BJP President Somu Vera raju on Sunday.
BJP leaders alleged that the Ganesh idols made by artisans are destroyed and taken away in garbage bins. narrating this to the Governor, they wanted him to intervene and direct the officials to give permissions to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.
