In a surprising incident, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, a bus stop shelter, along with its steel structure, worth Rs.10 lakh was stolen.
According to a source, the Bangalore police have launched a probe into a case where a stainless steel bus shelter was stolen. This bus shelter was stolen a week after it was installed on Bengaluru’s Cunningham Road. The police are now investigating why there was a delay in filing a complaint from the builder’s side.
The bus stand shelter was installed on August 21 and was stolen on August 28. Reportedly, the authorities were unaware of the theft up until a police complaint was filed.
Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy says, “BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) is not constructing any bus stops. Now, BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) will construct and they will take advantage of the attachment (bus stop shelter). We are not constructing… Somebody removed that. I will talk to the commissioner and see that a new bus stop is there…”
