Air India on Tuesday has disclosed that it has ordered 470 Boeing and Airbus passenger jets. This order comes in the wake meet the nation’s expanding middle class’s booming demand for increasingly affordable air travel. Hence, Air India announced orders for 470 Boeing and Airbus passenger jets on Tuesday.

According to an official statement issued by Air India, “The order includes 210 Airbus A320/321 Neos, 190 Boeing 737 MAX single-aisle aircraft, 40 Airbus A350s, 20 Boeing 787s, and 10 Boeing 777-9s. GE Aerospace engines will power the B777/787s, while Rolls-Royce engines will power the A350 aircraft. CFM International engines will power all single-aisle aircraft.

Moreover, the top domestic and international airlines in India are investing $34 billion on the purchase of 220 Boeing aircraft.  Apparently, it is the second-largest sale in terms of quantity and the third-largest in terms of monetary value for the American manufacturer of aircraft.

Meanwhile, these orders are supported by the presidents of the United States, France, and India.  Air India is also purchasing 250 passenger jets from the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

Subsequently, Air India is trying to redefine itself by boosting operations and updating its fleet. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the third-largest aviation market in the world will be in India. He made this announcement during a video conference. Furthermore, he stated that, India is expected to require more than 2,000 aircraft over the course of the next 15 years. Moreover, “today’s historic announcement will aid in satisfying this growing demand.”

Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, during the conference call stated the scale of the deal “demonstrates the Indian aviation industry’s hunger for growth. Its growth rate is the highest in the world.”

According to U.S. President Joe Biden, the Boeing “buy would sustain nearly 1 million American employment across 44 states, and many will not require a four-year college degree.” This declaration underlines the robustness of the economic ties between the United States and India.
