The man was found dead on a chair in his house, the family members and neighbors moved away to their homes fearing that the deceased might have been infected by COVID-19.

Fortunately, a local resident came forward and offered to push the cart till the crematorium. The victim identified as 55-year-old Sadashiv Hiratti, reportedly died of a heart attack at home on Wednesday night when his wife, son and daughter were out on a family visit in the nearby town of Chikkatti.

The victim Hiratti was suffering from heart ailments.

When the family returned home and knocked on the door, there was no response from Hiratti. The family then gathered neighbours and broke open the door and found the man dead on a chair.

The family members avoided touching the body saying they did not want to take risks in times of pandemic. The incident took place in Athani town of Belagavi district in Karnataka

As the news of Hiratti’s death spread, all neighbours and other family members rushed indoor fearing the man died of coronavirus infection.
