A customer was allegedly beaten to death by the staff and owner of Meridian restaurant at Punjagutta, Hyderabad. The incident happened when the man asked the hotel staff for a raita with Biryani.
The victim was identified as Mohammad Liyaqat, 30 years old, and lives near Chandrayangutta. He went to Meridian Restaurant, Punjagutta on Sunday night around 11 PM along with a friend and ordered Biryani. Liyaqat noticed that the waiter didn’t serve the raita with biryani. He asked for some extra raita (curd) but the waiter denied it. An argument broke out between the customer and the waiter. Moreover, it is alleged that the owner and the staff of the restaurant beat him to death over the altercation.
After some time the Punjagutta police arrived at the restaurant and took both of them to the station. While talking to the police, Liyaqat suddenly collapsed. The police immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
A murder case has been registered on the hotel waiter at the Punjagutta police station. The accused has been taken into custody.
