Popular Folk Singer and Activist Gaddar Passes Away, he was 74

Indian poet, folk singer and activist Shri. Gummadi Vittal Rao, popularly known as Gaddar passed away at Apollo Spectra hospital, Hyderabad. He was 74.

Gaddar gained recognition for his active participation in the Naxalite movement till 2010. Later he joined the Telangana movement for separate statehood.

Supposedly, Gaddar was an active member of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) People’s War. He spend few years in the underground in the 1980’s. He used to perform in front of the crowds as he was in the cultural wing of the communist group. Later on also people remembered him for his songs.

Apparently, in 1997, he survived an assassination attack but a bullet could not be removed from his spine. it took four years for him to recover from the injuries. However, the culprits were not known till date inspite of the CBI enquiry.
