The Telangana State government set up it first university with the Chief Minister(CM) as Chancellor against the tradition of having the Governor of the state as Chancellor of Universities.
The Telangana state government introduced” University of Forestry, Telangana Bill, 2022” in the Legislative Assembly on Monday. However, the university bears significance not for the infrastructure or the costs. It has become significant for the wrong reasons.
It is for the first time in the history of a Telangana state and maybe country too that the CM of the state is the Chancellor of the University. It has been a practice that the Governor of the state should be the Chancellor of the University.
However, the bill is not yet passed in the Legislative assembly. The bill is yet to pass on Tuesday.
This move by the state government confirms the rift between the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
