30 Pelican Signals installed for the first time ever in Hyderabad in India which were officially launched on Wednesday by Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand and funded under the safety city project. Pelican signals are being put for the first time in India, according to Anand. The main advantages are improved visibility of crosswalks for drivers and a controlled, safe flow of traffic.

This is how it works:

The traffic police will first station traffic volunteers to operate the pelican signals and instruct the general public in their use. All of these signals will provide a window of 15 to 20 seconds for a person to cross the road safely by turning the vehicular signal red in both directions.

100 body-worn cameras were also distributed by him to traffic frontline cops. Police officers can use cameras to capture their encounters with the public when conducting enforcement, during accidents, and during other occurrences. This would increase accountability and transparency in traffic management and prevent unwelcome behavior from both violators and enforcement personnel, the official added.

According to Telangana Today, traffic officers received a package that included a raincoat, rain boots, glucose tablets, water bottles, and sunglasses. Anand also gave patrol personnel durable tabs that would enable them to respond to Dial 100 emergency calls, screen potential criminals, keep a close eye on history sheeters using internal apps and geolocation capabilities, and instantly access departmental data.
