A video of a woman in Noida trying to pull her domestic worker out of a lift has gone viral on social media. Shefali Kaul, an advocate, & a resident of Noida’s Cleo County society in Sector 120 have been identified as the woman. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
According to the police, the girl was saved on Tuesday from an apartment in a posh society in Noida. Where she had been held hostage and assaulted by her employer for nearly 2 months.
Shefali Kaul, an advocate, lives in Cleo County society in Sector 121 and has been charged under sections 344 (illegal confinement for more than 10 days), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), & 504 (insult) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), they said.
However, the father of the girl filed a complaint at the Phase 3 police station. Moreover, girl father stated that his daughter had a 6 month work contract with Kaul that expired on October 31.
Hence the girl wanted to quit her job after the contract expired. However, the advocate refused to send the domestic help. ‘She held my daughter hostage at her home. She is assaulting her and abusing her,’ the complainant stated.
On Tuesday, Security camera footage of a lift in the society allegedly showed Kaul trying to drag the household staff out of the lift. The video is said to be from 2 weeks ago.
Saad Miya Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), stated, A police report has been filed at the Phase 3 police station. Evidence is being gathered, further legal action will be taken soon.
