Since the horrific shootout that left 8 police personnel dead, Vikas Dubey’s family of aged parents, brother and sister’s families have all disowned him.
The misdeeds of gangster Vikas Dubey who has been nabbed from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh has shamed his family members too. His parents and siblings have been questioned by police since the horrific encounter in his native village Bikru of Kanpur’s Chaubepur town.
Details of Vikas Dubey’s family are not wellknown. Several journalists are reaching out to the Chaubepur locality and to Lucknow and Kanpur to dig out details of the Vikas Dubey clan. He and his extended family own a number of properties in Kanpur and Lucknow. Some reports say the uncouth gangster allegedly had his ‘accountant’ and Man Friday Jay Vajpayee ferry (escort) his wife Richa Dubey and son Shanu to ‘safety’ the night of encounter.
Old Parents:
Vikas Dubey’s family comprises his father Ram Kumar Dubey, who was the first person to tell the police probe team that Vikas Dubey was not in town when the ambush (that saw 8 police personnel killed in cold blood) happened. That turned out to be a lie.
Brother and sister-in-law:
Vika’s Dubey’s mother Sarla Devi Dubey says she has not met her son for several months and that she has been living with her younger son Prakash or Deep Prakash alias Deepu Dubey and the daughter-in-law Anjali Dubey. Villagers have told certain journalists that Vikas Dubey partnered with Deepu in the real estate business and that the duo had another younger brother named Avinash who died mysteriously a few years ago.
Wife and sons:
Vikas Dubey’s wife Richa Dubey lived with him and also dabbled in politics. She was the sister of Vikas Dubey’s friend Raju Khullar Shrivastav and Vikas Dubey had married her 25 years ago. The duo have two sons – Akash and Shanu. Akash Dubey is abroad on study purpose, enrolled in an MBBS-level course.
The younger son Shanu is studying in Inter (college) in Lucknow and lives with his mother in Lucknow. Some sources say the grandmother also lived with the mother-son duo in Lucknow while the old grandfather lived in Bikru with the gangster son.
Surviving sister & family:
Two sisters of Vikas Dubey are no more – Rekha and Kiran. Both were married and lived in Rampur and Unnao respectively. The only other sister who survives – is Bittan alias Chandrakanta Dubey of Shivli. The family of this elder sister of Vikas Dubey alleges that the Uttar Pradesh (Kanpur) Police, after interrogation, has dumped the old father of the notorious gangster with them, much against their wishes.
Elder sister Chandrakanta Tiwari’s husband Dinesh Tiwari has been questioned repeatedly for the last few days. But nephew Dhruv Tiwari, niece Anamika Tiwari and sister Chandrakanta Tiwari say they had enmity with Vikas Dubey as he had usurped their property and had not met him since last many years.
