Rajasthan Doctor Suicide: BJP Leader Arrested For Alleged Abetment

Archana Sharma, the doctor died by suicide in Rajasthan, Dausa district on Wednesday. Earlier, the police booked her following the death of a woman during childbirth. She left behind a heartbreaking suicide note.

BJP leader Instigated the Mob

According to NDTV, two days after the death of Dr. Archana Sharma from Rajasthan by suicide, a local BJP leader was arrested. Allegedly, he instigated a mob to harass the doctor, after the death of a pregnant patient in a private hospital.

Suicide Note

However, Archana Sharma, accused of murder left behind a heart breaking suicide note. In the suicide note, she asserted her innocence.

Following her suicide, there was an outrage across the country. Hence, the Chief Minister suspended all the Police personnel in that area.

Arrests Made

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jitender Gothwal was arrested for alleged abetment of suicide. Consequently, he tweeted about his arrest from his Jaipur residence in the wee hours of Thursday. He said that he has been charged under Section 302(abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Gothwal claimed that the state government was “taking revenge for sending a train ticket to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi”.

 

Family staged Dharna

According to another report, the patient’s family returned to the hospital with the dead body. They staged a dharna outside the hospital on the behest of a local leader Shiv Shankar Joshi alias Balia Joshi.

BJP Leaders

Initially,  Shiv Shankar Joshi instigated the family of getting a good compensation. Very soon, he gathered a crowd and several other BJP leaders including Rakesh Matlana, Jithender Gothwal and others joined them. They took a compensation of 10 lakhs.

Prior to this too,  Joshi made attempts of extortion from the hospital in the past too.  However, due to pressure from senior BJP leader Dr. Kirodi Lala Meena, there’s no FIR on Joshi yet.
