Prashant Kishor declines Congress offer to join the party

According to NDTV, the Congress refused to give Prashant Kishor a free hand. Earlier, they had agreed internally that they needed a fresh face. They also felt the need to have a transformational strategy for the next general elections.

It is said that the Congress offered Election strategist Prashant Kishor a slot on the party’s “Empowered Action Group “. It is understood that he said a firm “no” to the Congress today. However, the party indicated that it was not ready for any sweeping change.

Subsequently, Mr. Kishor declined the offer. He pointed remarks about the Congress’s need for leadership and “collective will to fix deep rooted structural problems”. Various sources indicated that the 137-year-old party refused to give him freedom to work.

On the other hand, it is known that they internally agreed that they need a fresh face. They also need a transformational strategy for the next general elections.

“I declined the generous offer of #congress to join the party as part of the EAG and take responsibility for the elections,” Mr. Kishor tweeted shortly after the Congress announced his decision.

“In my humble opinion, more than me the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep rooted structural problems through transformational reforms,” he added, encapsulating his reservations about the party that he has aired from time to time.
