In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old police constable in Hyderabad died after his service gun accidentally misfired.
The deceased was identified as Bhupathi Srikanth, 30. He was the guard-in-charge of the Kabutar Khana police outpost in Hyderabad’s Hussaini Alam.
According to The Sisasat Daily, the incident happened when constable Srikanth was counting the rounds (bullets), police report.
According to police, Srikanth was in the restroom when his service weapon allegedly misfired, injuring him with one bullet. “The accident occurred around 3.30 a.m. when he was sleeping with his carbine weapon beside him,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Syed Jahangeer.
He was immediately rushed to the nearest Osmania Hospital, where he was declared dead.
