PM Modi meets UK PM Rishi Sunak at G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia

PM Modi had informal interaction with Sunak on Tuesday on the side-lines of the G20 summit in Bali and exchanged views on a range of issues.

On the grounds of the G-20 conference in Indonesia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets UK PM Rishi Sunak on Wednesday. PM Modi had informal interaction with Sunak on Tuesday on the side-lines of the G20 summit in Bali and exchanged views on a range of issues.

The G20 summit happened Bali, Indonesia. PM Modi and other various country leaders reached there and held summit. PM Modi met various other prime ministers of different countries.

According to News18, UK PM Rishi Sunak highlighted strengths of the UK-India Migration and Mobility Partnership, which was established last year. “I have personal experience with the tremendous importance of the strong cultural and historical links we have with India.

Furthermore, he added, I’m happy that even more of India’s most talented young people will now have the chance to experience everything that living in the UK has to offer – and vice versa – enriching our economies and cultures,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The British government added that compared to practically every other country in the Indo-Pacific region, their country has stronger connections to India. India accounts for over a quarter of all foreign students in the UK, and Indian investments supports 95,000 jobs.

Schemes:

British and India government introduced 2 schemes.

1) New scheme for UK-India Young Professionals will be introduced by the two leaders. According to the scheme, the UK would provide 3,000 visas each year for Indian citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 who have degrees to come work there for up to two years.

It will be a reciprocal system. The British government claimed that India is the first visa-national country to profit from it.

2) The UK government said that it is now negotiating a trade agreement with India, which, if approved. It will be the first such agreement India has struck with a European nation.

The agreement will strengthen the £24 billion-worth trade ties between India and UK. It enable the UK to take advantage of possibilities afforded by India’s expanding economy.”
