Nearly 72,757 girls and women missing in Telugu States, says Centre

The Central government has revealed missing of girls and women in the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra gave a written reply to the questions asked by several members of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Missing girls and women in Andhra Pradesh

The Union Minister revealed that 7,928 girls and 22,278 women were missing in AP in the three years from 2019 to 2021.

  • As many as 2,186 girls and 6,252 women in 2019.
  • 2,374 girls and 7,057 women in 2020 and
  • 3,358 girls and 8,969 women disappeared in 2021, says the Union Ministry.

Missing girls and women in Telangana

In Telangana, 8,066 girls and 34,495 women were missing in the three years from 2019 to 2021.

  • 2,849 girls and 10,744 women in 2019,
  • 2,232 girls and 10,917 women in 2020 and 
  • 2,994 girls and 12,834 women disappeared in 2021, according to the Union Ministry.
