Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui’s show in Hyderabad was successful with the help and cooperation of the Telangana government and the police. The show became more popular with the intervention of BJP and its workers.

Despite the hard efforts of BJP and the Goshamahal MLA Mr. Raja Singh’s objection to the show, the show went on smoothly. The show named ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ was held in Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The security was tightened after BJP workers sent threats to stop the show. The hall where the show was organised was beefed up with security. There was security both inside and outside the hall, while Munawar was performing.

Earlier, MLA Raja Singh was detained in an unknown destination to safeguard the peace in Hyderabad. Many BJP workers were arrested.

The comedian also came in a bullet-proof car and was given security by the Hyderabad police as well.

2300 people attended the show. Apparently after the show, in the video clip, Munawar can be heard saying, “Humne yeh isiliye kar dikhaya kyunki yahan pe yeh log (Hyderabad police) hume protect kar rahe the. (We could do it because the Hyderabad police were protecting us).”

Furthermore, he said, “Inhone (Hyderabad police) bahut mehnat kari hain aur iss mehnat ko hum waste nahi karinge, internet pe kisiko gaali deke. (They have worked very hard for us and we will not waste it by abusing anyone on the internet). So I would like to say, thank you Hyderabadi police.”

Several fans of the stand-up comedian thanked the Telangana government and the Hyderabad police through twitter.
