The efforts made by Modi, the Prime Minister of India, to be remembered in the history of Independent India are commendable. These efforts compel us to question ourselves as to how we would like to remember Mr. Modi in history.
However, the perception would vary from one another and influence the people’s minds, especially those who are documenting his actions and reactions. Furthermore, what is articulated and what is depicted also counts.
It is an open secret that the RSS backs the Modi-led BJP government. Moreover, it is alleged that the organization has a history of distorting whatever is in history. It is well-known that the contributions of eminent figures from our freedom movement were removed from the school books.
Undoubtedly, Narendra Modi has emerged as a captivating figure in Indian politics. He is hailed for all the decisions he takes whether good or bad. The IT cell and all his associates work excellently to applaud and appraise all his actions.
Ironically, all his failures are also projected as his wise decisions for the development of our country. On the contrary, Bureaucrats and diplomats are coerced to talk about the decision taken, whether good or bad.
However, mentioning a few of his failures would enlighten us-
Repeal of farm laws, the control of the government on temples, demonetization, shaheen bagh incidents, and the aftermath, the Act on the places of worship, privatization of Public sector units (PSUs), riots in Bengal, Delhi, and Manipur, land acquisition Act, and many more. He was criticized brutally for all the above and faced many charges regarding them.
However, he takes credit for his failures and also for many more decisions- successfully administering vaccinations to a billion Indians during the pandemic, Article 370, the Balakot strike, etc.
As a Prime Minister of the country, and the way the media is used and abused during his term reflects his administration and governance. His IT cell, makeup team, cabinet ministers and all the people acquainted with him will surely project him as a hero.
