Legendary director K. Vishwanath passed away at 92

Legendary director K Vishwanath passed away in Hyderabad at the age of 92. He and breathed his last at his residence in Hyderabad, due to age-related issues. 

Kasinadhuni Viswanath was born on 19 February 1930 in Repalle of Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. He was born to Kasinadhuni Subramanyam and Kasinadhuni Saraswathy (Saraswathamma). Viswanath was married to Kasinadhuni Jayalakshmi. He is survived by two sons Ravindranath Viswanath, and Nagendranath Viswanath and a daughter, Padmavathi Viswanath.

Viswanath started his film career as an audiographer and in 60 years, he has directed 53 feature films. He started his career as an assistant director in the Telugu-Tamil Film Pathala Bhairavi, 1951.  In 1965, Viswanath debuted as a director with Telugu film Aatma Gowravam, he won the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film of the year. 

Viswanath won five National Film Awards. He also won several Nandi Awards and Filmfare Awards. Viswanath was honored with the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2017.

The most iconic films of Viswanath are include Swarnakamalam, Sagara Sangamamm, Swathi Muthyam, Chelleli Kapuram, Siri Siri Muvva, Sankarabharanam, Saptapadi, Sruthilayalu, Sutradharulu, Aapadbhandhuvudu, Swati Kiranam, Subha Sankalpam, Swarabhishekam, Sargam, Kaamchor, Shubh Kaamna, Eeshwar and Dhanwaan. Viswanath’s last directorial was Subhapradam in 2010.

The demise of K Viswanath left the entire industry in shock and grief. Several Tollywood celebrities have expressed shock and mourned his death on social media.

The director’s mortal remains were brought to his residence in Film Nagar around 1.00 pm.
