A video which has gone viral on the social media shows, the High Court judge slam a woman demanding huge money as alimony from her ex- husband.
A recent case in the Karnataka High Court has attracted attention due to the court’s strong reaction to a woman’s demand for ₹6 lakh per month as maintenance from her estranged husband.
The woman had initially been granted ₹50,000 per month by a lower court but sought an increase, claiming her monthly expenses amounted to over ₹6 lakh. During the hearing, Justice Lalitha Kanneganti expressed surprise and disapproval, remarking that the court was not a marketplace for bargaining.
The judge emphasized that such a high maintenance amount was unreasonable, particularly since the woman did not have responsibilities like child-rearing, which the husband was already covering separately. The court suggested that if she wanted to spend so much, she should earn her own income.
