BJP MLA Raghunandan booked for releasing identity of gang rape victim

Raghunandan Rao has been booked under Section 228A of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to disclosure of identity of the victim of certain offenses.

BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao is booked by the Abids police on charges of revealing the identity of the Jubilee Hills gang- rape victim.

Raghunandan Rao held a press meet at the BJP head office last week. He released a video clip and a photograph to the media present there. He claimed that the video clip he released was the proof of AIMIM MLA’s son’s presence in the car along with the victim. BJP MLA alleged that the police were trying to save the MLA’s son.

Soon after the video clip was released, several people shared it. Unfortunately, two YouTubers released the video clips. However, they were also booked for showing the video clips. Several leaders and women activists criticized this move of Raghunandan Rao. They said that he made the identity of the victim public for political gains.

According to Telangana Today, BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao has been booked under Section 228A of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to disclosure of identity of the victim of certain offenses.

It is alleged that the 17-year-girl was gangraped in a car by five persons at Jubilee Hills ten days ago. She went to attend a party at a pub. The suspects had offered to drop her home in the car. Six persons have so far been arrested in the case.
