A Gujarati family of four which included a three-year-old child died, while pursuing their American dream. They were being trafficked across the border into the US from Canada. Even worse is that another such family is still missing, reported by Vibes of India.

American Dream

Many people from India, especially Gujaratis are willing to take any kind of risk to just get an entry into the US. They even undertake dangerous practices and spend lakhs of money to fulfill their ‘American Dream”.

Proud Residents

The Gujarati family hailed from Dingucha village, which is about 12 kilo meters from Gandhinagar. It has a population of 3000 people. The irony is that most of the residents of this village live in America. The villagers proudly claim that 1,800 people live in America.

Family Insult

Surprisingly, most Patels in the region believe that it is a “family insult” if at least one member of the family doesn’t settle in the US. It is a matter of dignity and social prestige for them. They are not satisfied with the wealth they have in India. They chase their ‘American Dream’ at any cost.

The Patel Family

The Patel family which froze to death are the victims of their ‘American Dream’. Jagdish(35), his wife Vaishali (33) and their two children Vihanngi (12) and Dharmik (3) hailed from this not so popular village, Dingucha.

The family were not from a below poverty – stricken one. Jagdish, the head of the family was a respectable school teacher in his village. Not content with his job, he decided to make his way into the US.

Spent 65 Lakh to enter into US illegally

They hired “agents” who promised to help them to fulfill their ‘American Dream’ of entering into the US without valid visas. It is said that the agents charged them Rs 65 lakh to do so.

The bodies of the family members were recovered at the border, when temperatures stood at -35 degrees Celsius. The Patel family had planned to land up in North Dakota ad then see where to go from there. It is said that they had been saving money for more than a decade.
