Government released state-wise list of custodial deaths of 2020-22 today.

Uttar Pradesh has registered highest number of cases of custodial deaths in the country. According to the list released by the government, the custodial deaths in the year 2020-21 is 451, and 2020-22 is 501. The list shows that there were 2,544 custodial deaths in this year.

According to the National Human rights commission, there is a rise in the custodial deaths. Moreover, according to them, Uttar Pradesh has always topped the list.

Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh followed Uttar Pradesh in custodial deaths.
