Google to invest $10 billion in India’s Digitisation Fund, says Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, said on Friday that the company is going to invest $10 billion in India’s digitisation fund. Also announced, the company will open its global fintech operation centre in Gujarat.

Pichai made his announcement soon after meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington.

Sundar Pichai, during an interaction with the media, said, “It was an honour to meet PM Modi during the historic visit to the US. We shared with the Prime Minister that Google is investing $10 billion in India’s digitisation fund. We are announcing the opening of our global fintech operation centre in GIFT City, Gujarat.

Furthermore, he appreciated Modi’s vision for Digital India and said, “It is ahead of his time. I now see it as a blueprint that other countries are looking to do.”

According to Business Today, Pichai further stated that Google’s generative AI chatbot Bard will be available in more Indian languages very soon.
