The opposition parties in Telangana have been brutally criticizing the government’s decision regarding the Dharani portal. The government of Telangana initiated the Dharani Portal to minimize human involvement and eradicate red-Tapism in maintaining records.

However, many issues have been reported after its emergence.

A few issues in the Dharani portal are the inaction of Tahsildars in issuing e-pattadar passbooks, the partition deeds executed through the portal, copies of sale deeds and others.

However, the blame is on the Tahsildars that they refused to issue certificates or copies. When the Tahsildars’ were asked about the lapses, they said that only scanned copies of sale deeds were uploaded onto Dharani, and the landowners took away the originals. On the contrary, the ROR Act 2020 guidelines do not approve issuing certified copies of documents registered on the Dharani portal. Hence, the Tahsildars are helpless.

When the protests started to rise, the Court had to intervene and instruct the revenue authorities to submit a compliance report. Out of concern, the court questioned the government, and the Tahsildars were asked to give an explanation as to why are they refusing to issue certificates or copies. Furthermore, the court has extracted as many answers as possible and recorded them to ensure a practical solution.

Whatever the issues or lapses, the political parties use these to uplift their agenda and fool people.
