At least 23 senior leaders wrote to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. They demanded a complete change in the organization. It said that the writers of the letter include former chief ministers such as Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Prithviraj Chavan, younger leaders such as Milind Deora and Jitin Prasada and former ministers Kapil Sibal and Shashi Tharoor.

The letter was delivered to Sonia Gandhi on the Independence Day. The letter demanded for a full time and effective leadership, which is both active and visible. The letter said that the leaders demand an urgent establishment of an institutional leadership mechanism to collectively guide the party’s revival.

Former Rajya Sabha leader PJ Kurien confirmed that he can’t reveal the details right now but the letter will be made available after tomorrow’s CWC meeting. He only confirmed that he signed the letter.

Former party spokesperson Sanjay Jha spoke about the letter recently. He tweeted that around 100 Congress leaders (including MP’s), upset regarding the things that happened within the party. They wrote a letter to Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Congress President, asking for a change in political leadership and transparent elections in the CWC.

The party’s chief spokesperson, Randeep Singh Surjewala, took to twitter to deny Jha.  The letter now created a lot of buzz.  He called it as a strategy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to divert attention from other issues. Surjewala had tweeted that BJP tried every possible way to divert public’s attention from them. Randeep completely denied the statement of Jha.

Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor use social media platform to express his disappointment. He tweeted that he found lack of passion and urge in the party. He posted a quote by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
