The famous 49-year-old Wankhede Stadium at Churchgate will get a first-ever statue of a cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar in his familiar ‘lofted drive’ shot.
The statue has been installed by MCA (Maharashtra Cricket Association) near Sachin Tendulkar Stand at the stadium. The statue is dedicated to the 50 years of his life. He celebrated his 50th birthday in April this year.
According to source, In the unveiling function of the statue tomorrow, November 1. In event CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will be present during unveiling. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Ashish Shelar along with officials from the Mumbai Cricket Association will attend the event.
Sachin Tendulkar is the first and the only batsman to score 100 international centuries. He was the first batsman to excel in all three formats of the game. He finished his career as the highest run-scorer in the history of test match cricket.
The Wankhede Stadium has always held a special place in Tendulkar’s heart, and the life-size statue of the cricket icon. Who boasts a remarkable career with 200 Test matches and incredible records of 15,921 Test runs and 18,426 ODI runs. Tendulkar’s statue will be unveiled on the eve of the India-Sri Lanka ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
