Coronavirus scare: Neighbours thrash doctor and fracture his hand, ask him to vacate rented house.The neighbours in the Shastrinagar Colony of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh suspected that the doctor may spread coronavirus in the colony owing to his job in the medical college.

The doctors and other health workers in India continue to face harassment and discrimination. Amid the coronavirus pandemic in India and other parts of the world such incidents have become common. A doctor in Meerut city of Uttar Pradesh, has alleged that he has been beaten up by his neighbors.

The doctor identified as Prashant Bhatnagar works in the Community Medicine department of the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College (LLRM) in Meerut.

He reported that some of the doctor’s neighbors beat him up and fractured his hand in the colony at Shastrinagar Sector 6 under Nauchandi Police Station limits.

The  doctor works at the City Medical College, and has been living in that colony for last 7 years. It is reported that the neighbors suspect that the doctor, may spread COVID-19 virus due to his job in the City Medical College. The doctor was regularly harassed by the neighbors over the issue since the lockdown came into effect on March 25.

Meanwhile, the police have booked three persons based on the complaint of the victim’s father. Earlier, some people also barged into the doctor’s home and pressurized him to vacate the rented house.
