Conductor attacked a woman with petrol, A 25-year-old married woman was attempted to set ablaze after she refused a conductor’s proposal he decided to take revenge on her, in Tamil Nadu, Cuddalore district. The victim, a mother of two girls, has been working in a private firm at Valadur. As per the police, the victim’s husband is an Army jawan who is posted in West Bengal, currently.
The conductor, identified as R Sundaramoorthy, befriended her as she used to commute to her office in a private bus. The two used to talk regularly during the journey. Police said when the conductor confessed his love for the victim. She stopped talking to him three months ago when she came to know his intentions.
Sundaramoorthy came to meet her at her office on Friday with a bottle of petrol. He requested her for a brief talk and when the woman came out, the Conductor followed her to office and attacked the women with petrol and set her ablaze. She screamed for help, her colleagues and passers by caught him and handed him over to the Vadalur police.
The woman was later referred to the government hospital in Cuddalore where doctors said she had sustained 20% burn injuries. The woman had burns on the head, left upper limb and left thigh.
Sundaramoorthy was booked under Section 294 B (obscene acts and songs), 354 (T) (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian penal code and arrested him.
