This Chinese man who sold his kidney as a teenager to buy an Apple iPad and iPhone in 2011 is now bedridden with organ failure, according to reports.
Wang Shangkun, suffered renal failure in his second kidney after having one removed. Doctors said that it was due to the unhygienic conditions where the surgery was done.
Wang Shangkun was very keen on owning Apple devices. He responded to a black market organ peddler on an online chatroom.
Wang Shangkun desperately wanted to own apple products for which he sold his right kidney in the black market. He underwent surgery to sell his kidney to buy the Apple products, when he was 17-years-old.
Unfortunately, soon after the illegal surgery was done, Wang Shangkun began suffering from a declining level of kidney function.

In 2012, a total of nine people involved in the organ racket were jailed for their involvement. Five surgeons involved with the process were also among those convicted.
