‘Chalo Vijayawada’, the call made by employees and teachers from various parts of Andhra Pradesh turned all eyes towards the state. The employees and teachers defied police ban to protest against the government. They are demanding for a higher pay revision.

The police denied permission for the protest and imposed restrictions across the state. Employees, teachers and pensioners reached there in huge numbers. The call for the protest was given by ‘PRC Sadhana Samiti’, the joint action committee of all employees associations.

In addition to this, they raised slogans and held flags of their unions and banners. The massive rally began from AP NGO Bhavan towards BRTS Road, Vijayawada. The traffic came to a standstill in all the busy areas.

The employees and the leaders claimed that ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ a huge success. This massive rally was organized to protest against the new PRC GO issued last month.

Moreover, after the PRC GO was issued, they would receive less salaries. They were receiving 27 per cent interim relief but this GO led to a downward revision in their salaries.

The employees say that their demands are just and are demanding the government to give their rights. They are demanding salaries as per old pay scales and not reverse PRC.

However, the leaders of employees’ unions said that the protest would continue till the government accept all their demands. Further, they plan to go ahead with the strike from February 7. They want to bring the entire administration to a standstill. Consequently, the government alone would be responsible for the inconvenience caused to the people in Andhra.
