Whenever you have a meeting or an appointment, you should be 5-10 minutes before the appointment or scheduled time as you have to get acquainted with the new environment. If you are on time then you are wasting those 5-10 minutes to settle down, hence it is equivalent to being late.

Those people who are consistently late should analyze as to how their late coming would affect them and others too.

There are many negatives to being punctual or being late.
Firstly, it conveys to people waiting for you that you do not value their time, which in turn sends a rude message that you don’t value them.

It would give others the impression that you are not self-controlled and incompetent.
Being late will make you feel insecure and will affect your behavior, which may because you to lose your clients or job too. Decide whether you are going to be punctual, late or go early.
