Telangana state BJP president Bandi Sanjay was arrested on Wednesday as the principal accused in Warangal paper leak case.
Kamalapur police registered FIR on Bandi Sanjay and charged him under Section 5 of Telangana Public Examinations Act 1997, Section 120 (B) and Section 420 of Indian Penal Code Act.
According to news reports, Sanjay was arrested at Karimnagar and escorted to the Bommalaramaram police station in the Yadadri-Bhongir district. Later he was transferred to Palakurthy through Jangaon town.
Doctors performed medical tests on him at the Palakurthy CHC since a medical evaluation is required before presenting him to the magistrate.
On Tuesday, three people were detained in connection with the case, including a BJP worker named Booram Prashanth. However, the BJP plans to conduct protest against the arrest of Sanjay and Prashanth.
Many BJP leaders, including Hanamkonda district president Rao Padma, were held under house arrest on Wednesday.
