Gujarat Rains: Vehicles Submerged as Heavy batters in Dhoraji

Gujarat witnessed heavy rains and floods-like situations in many areas of Gujarat, including Rajkot, Surat, and Gir Somnath districts received heavy to very heavy rains on 18 July evening.

Jamkandorna taluka in Rajkot has the highest recorded rainfall within 2 hours between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. Around 300mm of rainfall has been recorded yesterday evening.

Visuals of the most affected districts of Rajkot, Surat, and Gir Somnath. The flooded roads and submerged vehicles surfaced on social media. Around 70 people have so far been shifted to safer places.

The India Meteorological Department had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas in Gujarat state. Especially in some districts of Saurashtra and south Gujarat regions, during the next few days.

The town of Dhoraji faced severe waterlogging on July 18. Cars were seen fully submerged following heavy rain in the area. People were seen struggling to move as roads and alleys appeared to have become streams. According to news agency ANI, around 300 millimetres of rainfall was recorded over a few hours.
